WordPress

TrustedOnes lets you ask-for and share recommendations with your friends at over 40 social destinations (like WordPress, Delicious, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, myspace, etc.).

Our WordPress widget lets you display those recommendations as a badge. You have a number of options, such as displaying only stuff that you recommend, including friends, rotating through any number of topics, or displaying a single one.

It’s a great way to promote the stuff you believe in, while adding dynamic content to your blog. You can also ask your readers to recommend their favorites to you, and TrustedOnes will automatically compile a list.

More tips

  • Configure your TrustedOnes account to send your recommendations and questions to your WordPress blog, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. TrustedOnes -> Friends on the web
  • Ask a question, like: What are your favorite travel blogs? and have answers compiled into a list.
    • To get a link to your question which you can paste anywhere you like, ..after asking the question in your trustedones home, view the question, and copy the “Add answer” link. That link will automatically set the correct topic and let friends (or the readers of your blog) add their answers to your question – even if they have to sign up.
  • Use RSS feeds to integrate recommendations into your blog, here are some suggestions:
    • Restaurants in Boston, MA -> According to me (arnox)
    • the feed is: http://www.trustedones.com/to/?location=Boston_-MA&topic=restaurant-local&user=arnox&wisdom=0&rss=1
    • Simply replace:
      • location any city, state  - or – city, country
      • topic – take a look at topic urls
      • user – any user name (most likely your own)
      • wisdom0=you, 1=you+friends, 2=you+friends+friends, 3=all trusted ones
    • With above feed, every time I add a recommendation for restaurants in Boston, Ma, it will be in my feed.
  • Use Google Maps in your blog to display local recommendations
    • Let’s go with the above Restaurants example, here is a link that will display all local restaurants that I recommend: http://maps.google.com/?q=http://www.trustedones.com/feeds/gearthinl/arnox.kml%3Ftopic=restaurant-local%26wisdom=0
    • Again, replace arnox with your user name, and topic for any local topic, and you’ll have your own recommendations
    • Use an IFRAME to display above map in your blog, like this:
    • <iframe frameborder=”0″ src=”http://maps.google.com/?output=embed&iwd=1&q=http://www.trustedones.com/feeds/gearthinl/arnox.kml%3F%26topic=restaurant-local%26wisdom=0″ width=”100%” height=”500″></iframe>
